A Portland Coffee Elopement Story

We're thrilled to see our gorgeous, low-key, coffee filled Portland elopement shoot featured on Ruffled Blog. Vintage Mingle was the stylist and table top rentals behind this shoot and we at Vintage Meets Modern provided the furniture rentals.

Our shoot took place at the Society Hotel in downtown Portland both on the rooftop and the coffee shop lobby. What a gorgeous backdrop!

Let's talk coffee and dessert! "Guests were invited to partake in an array of mini poppy seed Bundt cakes dripping with white icing and decadent pastries inspired by their favorite local coffee shop. Cakes and pastries by Just a Dash were displayed for nibbling on Vintage Mingle cake pedestals atop an eye-catching marble, rose pentagon table and side table by Vintage Meets Modern."

How to decide on furniture rentals for your lounge area

A new trend in weddings and corporate events is to create a lounge area for guests to mingle and relax. It also adds a certain wow factor to your overall look. Lounge areas are great near the bar or away from the dance floor speakers so your guests can take some time out and enjoy the view.

We've gotten feedback from our clients that planning out which couches to match with which rugs and chairs or what style and colors to go with can be overwhelming, so we've created a new section on our website called RENT THIS LOOK.

Browse our styled lounge areas available for rent as a package and usually with a discount! We've also included some ideas on how to pair our reception tables with chairs and how to style a cocktail hour. See examples below or click on RENT THIS LOOK for all the options - and check back soon, we're always adding ideas.

Schedule a showroom visit through our online calendar, it's super easy! or check out our full inventory for furniture and decor rentals in Portland on our online catalog.

This ultra modern black and white lounge compliments the space's classic look and color palette. Our Charcoal Leather Couch is beautifully complimented with the Ta Rocking Chairs.

I'm always impressed with the endless ways you can fold a napkin and set a table. The mauve and rose colors provided some subtle pop to the classic and clean theme.

Our Industrial Cart looked so good in the space, dressed with a beautiful rose velvet fabric and our Vintage Pink Depression Glass collection.

For the head table, we used our modern White Shell chairs. Available in a qty of 12 for head tables or intimate gatherings. You can also use for extra seating in your lounge area.

My personal favorite was the "White Glam Head Table." You and your new hubby should enjoy the comfort and luxury of our long and pretty Banquet Couch, add maid of honor and best man if you'd like. And check out those menus! Shape, color, design oh my! Thanks to Letters and Dust!

One of the show stoppers was the balloon backdrop Together Events and Flower Friends collaborated on for the Tropical Lounge. I love tropical themes, they're colorful, energetic and at the same time serene. These rattan chairs from our inventory are so simple, clean and comfortable!

Just a Dash Cakes seriously outdid themselves. We had 2 dessert displays using our Butcher Table and our 2-Tier Reclaimed Wood Table and an assortment of our cake stands and serve ware. Yummmmm is all I can say!

We co-hosted the Open House with our showroom neighbor, Tour Print and they live printed our custom T-shirts on site. We also had delicious cocktails (see cocktail menu below) a beer and water self service station and a wine bar. It was quite the party!

Stylist Sara Bergqvist Talks Scandinavian Advent

We sat down with Swedish (now Portland-based) stylist and event coordinator Sara Bergqvist, who teamed up with Starflower's owner and designer Jill Mason, and Photographer Gina Neal to create a Scandinavian Holiday table for Advent using Vintage Meets Modern's White Shell dining chairs and TA rocking chair:

VMM: Tell us about the Scandinavian tradition of Advent?

SB: Advent is the awaiting/coming of Christmas. It is celebrated in Scandinavia four weeks before Christmas. We light 4 Advent candles, eat saffron buns and ginger snaps. We drink mulled wine and decorate our homes with lights and greens.

VMM: What does the table setting and decor look like?

SB: Traditionally, we set our tables and decorate our homes in the key colors of warm red, grey, white and green. We gather around a table showcasing abundance!

VMM: We absolutely love how you guys styled this shoot, tell us about the theme behind the minimalistic and light setting?

SB: In the styling of our White Advent Table, we wanted to interpret and transform the traditional Advent table to capture another kind of Scandinavian aesthetics: clean, contemporary, minimalistic. The cold key colors white and greens, together with blonde wood and straight lines, presents a different way of celebrate!

Little holiday details for the party host

Vintage Meets Modern teamed up with Black Sweet Raspberry to create a holiday themed lounge at a pop up shop destination hosted by Oregon Energy Fund. The event is a fundraiser to bring heat and energy to Oregonians in need.

Our lounge area served as a photography setting for family and friends to donate to the cause and have their photos taken for their annual Christmas card.

Kimberly from Black Sweet Raspberry created a stunning wreath and floral arrangements that added such coziness and greenery to the scene, and hung a tree branch decorated with ornaments. See photos from our holiday lounge and get inspired to host your next holiday party!

Host a stylish island-meets-french-luxury cocktail hour!

Vintage Meets Modern teamed up with Ella Events to style the cocktail hour of our dreams, inspired by island greenery and french bistro luxury.

This cocktail hour set up is a contemporary take of a cultural intersect between island florals and french luxury. Vintage Meets Modern's marble top cocktail tables looked stunning in the remodeled historical space at The Evergreen, paired with our white Paris bistro style rattan bar stools.

We also set up a gorgeous lounge area featuring our rattan chairs marble top side table and gorgeous geometric rug.

Large and elaborate floral displays were created by Fieldwork Flowers and to complete the scene, Mint & Mirth created a whiskkey infused cocktail drenched with crushed ice and topped with cinnamon. It was as delicious as it was beautiful.

We love to work with local Portland businesses and had the pleasure of including Poke Mon's delicious salmon creation. And a special thank you to Hazelwood Photo for capturing the essence of this cocktail hour and lounge set-up.
